About
An atelier for the quiet work of financial auditing
Blue Ledger began as a small practice in Niigata Prefecture for companies that wanted an auditor who would sit with the trial balance, walk the warehouse, and explain adjustments before the board meeting — not after the opinion was already locked.
Origin
The name reflects two habits: the blue pencil marks we still use on draft statements, and the ledger discipline that keeps opening balances honest when a company faces its first formal audit. We work primarily with mid-sized trading companies, regional manufacturers, and family groups whose banks or overseas parents ask for an independent opinion.
Working approach
Engagements start with independence confirmation and a planning meeting where materiality is set in conversation with finance, not in a vacuum. Fieldwork prefers your premises when inventory or cash controls matter; document rooms and video walkthroughs cover multi-location groups when travel would only slow the schedule.
People
A lead engagement partner stays with you from letter to exit conference. A senior auditor directs testing; staff auditors handle confirmations, roll-forwards, and count attendance. We do not outsource fieldwork to anonymous seasonal teams.
Values in practice
Independence before convenience. Plain-language findings. Respect for finance teams under year-end pressure. Fees quoted after we understand entity count and readiness — never as a surprise add-on after fieldwork begins.
Relation to Japan
Our studio address is in 新潟県. We schedule around Golden Week and year-end closing calendars common to Japanese companies, and we write reports in English when lenders or parents require it, with Japanese working papers available on request.
